Congratulations to Kate Gubb, our 'Mom of the Month' for November!
Kate is a dedicated Stroller Strides participant, joining us numerous days a week with her adorable daughter, Camelia! She is a vivacious and energetic mom, and works incredibly hard at each workout! We are very pleased to announce that Kate will be our newest Stroller Strides instructor! She is being certified to teach at a training this weekend in D.C.! Look for her to start teaching her own classes by the end of November.
Kate has made great strides in fitness, motherhood, and life, and we are so thankful that she is an integral part of our village!
Join us in congratulating Kate and read on to get to know her a little better.
I grew up in Oakland, New Jersey which is about 40 minutes from NYC.
My husband, daughter, and I currently reside in Cary, NC.
I attended William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey where I earned my degree as a K-5 teacher of Special Education.
I have been a Fit4Mom member since September, 2015 and absolutely love Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre!
I have one daughter, Camelia Grace, who is such an amazing little girl. She is currently 20 months old and we cannot believe how quickly time has gone by. Second birthday planning is already in the works!
I have taught elementary school for about 12 years in New Jersey, and am currently delighted being a SAHM! Being fortunate enough to be a SAHM has opened up many new and exciting opportunities not only for myself but for my daughter. I am very excited to announce that I will be joining the Fit4Mom team and will be teaching Stroller Strides classes towards the end of the month!
My childhood ambition was to one day own a candy store. Sadly I did not attain this goal but did know at an early age that I wanted to become a teacher.
Motherhood is unconditional love. It is my best loved, challenging, and encompassing job. I’ve second guessed myself, laughed uncontrollably, and cried knowing my heart is so full. When I look at my daughter in awe, every day, I still cannot believe she is part of our legacy. She is our greatest creation and we know how significant our lives are. She is our “Sweet Peaches.”
The furthest I have been from home was about three years ago, when my husband proposed to me on a cove in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Stroller Strides has brought back my passion for exercise and well-being. Before relocating to North Carolina, I had not heard of Stroller Strides. After reading about it, I knew right away that this was the class for my daughter and me. Upon attending our first class, it was almost immediate that this was perfect for us. We felt welcomed and were greeted by so many friendly faces, not to mention having endured an amazing full body workout. I knew that I wanted to become part of Fit4Mom and help other moms achieve their goals.
My favorite exercises are Plyometrics. I love a challenge and love when I see new techniques or ideas being implemented.
My proudest fitness moment was being able to successfully complete Color Vibe’s 5K 3/1/2 months after Camelia was born. My proudest personal moment was giving birth to our daughter, Camelia after intense labor.
Three of my favorite things are anything Trader Joe’s, Coffee, and Cleaning and Organizing (yes…that is true).
There are a few surprising things about me. First, upon deciding to relocate a year ago, we couldn’t imagine not living close to a Trader Joe’s. So, my husband and I did a search for TJ’s in North Carolina and the first place to pop up was Cary, NC. A year later, here we are. So thank you Trader Joe’s! Second, I taught 5th grade for two icy months in Fuquay-Varina when we first moved down to NC.
My husband would say that my best qualities are my honesty, kindness, and creativity.
My best advice for moms looking to get back into shape is to be patient and be realistic. Your nutritional status and your energy are just as important too. Be mindful of what you eat and how much of it you are eating. Hide your scales. Stay positive and remember that exercise not only changes your body, it changes your mind, your attitude, and your mood. Remember ladies, you want to earn your shower
